The Horatio Alger Association is looking for a fall intern to help support its 2025 College Success Program! The 2025 College Success Program will take place virtually and run from August to June. The Fall intern role will support the first half of our College Success Program and support our incoming 2025 Scholars to help them throughout the college application and FAFSA process. Over 500+ incoming U.S. Horatio Alger Scholars will participate in this year-long program.  

The Fall Internship will take place from Tuesday, August 7^th through Friday, December 15th, and will be 10-12 hours per week. Flexibility to work afternoon and evening hours is a must, especially based on the Scholar’s time zone. The Fall intern will be compensated at $15/hour and will report to a Scholar Services Coordinator. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide support in facilitating live, virtual sessions (breakout rooms, ice breakers for the College Success Program (Supporting four 1.5-hour sessions monthly, plus orientation sessions) 
• Troubleshoot technical challenges with Scholars, provide support in facilitating breakout rooms and ice breakers for students 
• Monitor Community/Discussion boards weekly   
• Collect Scholar feedback about the College Success Program and provide recommendations to the Scholar Services Coordinators 
• Support programmatic priorities, as designated by the Scholar Services Coordinators 
• Additional duties as assigned 

REQUIREMENTS:

• Applicants must be a 2020, 2021, or 2022 U.S. Horatio Alger Scholar in good standing with the Association 
• Attend mandatory onboarding training prior to start of orientation and live sessions during the week of May 20-24th 
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (with an Excel emphasis) 
• Zoom proficiency: setting up meetings, managing breakout rooms, etc. 
• Must be available to work 8-10 hours per week (some early mornings and late evenings will be required, depending on the time zone of the applicant) 
• Must have access to consistent internet and technology device 
• Strong time management skills & an ability to effectively manage multiple tasks/projects 
• Team player, as well as attention to detail and flexibility are a must
